Friday = MEGA Swagbucks Day!

Today is Friday, which means that it is Mega Swag Bucks day!  This means that you could win up to 2,000 Swagbucks at a time, rather than 100... so start searching!

What is Swagbucks?

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Swagbucks, it's is a rewards site and search engine that allows you to earn virtual dollars (i.e. "Swag Bucks") by doing things that you do every day anyway, such as searching the web, online shopping, submitting polls, watching TV clips, etc.  These dollars can be redeemed for a variety of things, including gift cards to Amazon.com, Target, Barns & Noble, Southwest Airlines, Fandango, CVS, Home Depot, etc. 

To give you some perspective, it only takes 450 swagbucks to get a $5 Amazon.com gift card!  So, the bottom line is that you are basically earning rewards for free simply by doing your searches through swagbucks instead of other search engines like google.  If someone is going to give me something simply for searching the web like I normally do, I say, why not?!  To sign up and start earning, go here.

Swabucks Tips

Here are a few tips that should help you succeed at Swagbucks:

• First, you obviously need to sign up if you haven't already.  Currently, you will earn 30 Swagbucks simply for joining!
• When you're browsing the web, use Swagbucks instead of google or yahoo.  This is the hardest part because it takes a while to break the habit of going to your usual search engine.  To make it easier to remember, I would recommend changing your home page from google to swagbucks, at least until you develop the new habit of using Swagbucks. 
• It's also helpful to download the Swagbucks toolbar/widget (see the Swagbucks widget on the right hand side of this blog).  You can use this tool throughout the day to type your web searches. 
• Use Swagbucks even when you know the web address.  For example, instead of typing "gmail" into the address bar at the top of my browser, I always go to the Swagbucks site or use my Swagbucks toolbar to "search" for gmail and other sites I commonly visit.  Because you earn Swagbucks randomly by using it to search the web, you increase your chances of earning Swagbucks by using it to search for pages you normally visit. 
• Search for Swag codes and check my blog.  Swag codes are often released by Swagbucks and can be entered in your Swagbucks account to earn you more Swagbucks.  You can search for codes yourself, or you can check my blog daily for codes.

Living Social, a Daily Deal Site similar to Groupon, is currently offering an awesome movie deal: 2 Fandango Movie Tickets for just $9!  That's a 70% Savings!!  I was very excited to snatch this deal considering all the hot new summer movies coming out (Harry Potter, anyone?)!!  These tickets are redeemable on Fandango.com for a maximum face value of $15 each!  This deal is available on Living Social TODAY (6/9) ONLY, but your voucher may be used through September 9, 2011 to purchase movie tickets (paid value does not expire until 2016).  I've also heard that as long as you apply the credit to your Fandango.com account before the expiration date, the full promotional value is available past the voucher expiration date!  There are limited quantities, so hurry! - these tend to sell out very quickly!

Groupon is offering another great deal for anyone who may have some Graduations, birthdays, or other special occasions (perhaps for Father's Day if your dad is into flowers - I know mine isn't!): $19 for $40 Worth of Flowers & Gifts from FromYouFlowers.com!  FromYouFlowers has been featured on CNBC (they earned CNBC's Top Pick in overall quality and price for roses in 2010), CBS, and NBC and been given excellent reviews by each!  The voucher is valid through December, so this would be great to snag if you have any flower-worthy occasions between now and then :)  Head on over here to get in on this deal!

Note: I was a bit worried about purchasing this Groupon at first because I saw a link on the Groupon page to "Yahoo! Local," which had a poor rating.  However, that rating was based on only 9 reviews, and I found a different site with a much larger customer pool (101 ratings) that had almost a 5-star rating for this company!  Additionally, as cited above, the company has been recognized and given great ratings by CNBC, NBC, CBS, etc., and their website itself states "Satisfaction Guaranteed" right at the top!  Finally, I am always confident when purchasing a Groupon because I know Groupon itself has AWESOME customer service and is more than happy to provide a refund if you are unsatisifed with your experience.  Thus, I consider that there is always a satisfaction guarantee that comes along with any Groupon I purchase - one reason I love it so much!  Therefore, I never hesitate to buy a Groupon I'm interested in, including this one!

Here's a pretty sweet Groupon deal I wanted to share with all my DC-area friends: $20 for Wine-and-Fare Pairing for Two at Capitol Vineyards in Delaplan, VA - that's a 50% discount!  I love a relaxing day at a local winery, but I definitely don't enjoy the often very steep tasting fees associated with such visits.  Therefore, I was excited about this Groupon for 50% off a Wine-and-Fair pairing for two, which includes a 1/4 glass of six wines (two white, four red) in addition to a food pairings.  The Groupon page states that past cuisine pairings have included, for example, crab cake or mozzarella with prosciutto and traminette, bacon-swaddled dates with cabernet sauvignon, and a cabernet franc with sausages shaped like wine glasses.  I love Groupon deals like these because I think this is a great way to go on a date with your significant other or have some relaxing fun with a friend(s).  Also, you have until December to redeem the Groupon, so you could head over on a nice summery day or wait until fall when the head has died down a bit!

This seems like an awesome deal to me considering wine tasting fees alone are usually at least $5 per person, which often doesn't include 6 wines and definitely does not include any food! So, $10 per person for six 1/4 glasses and some food seems good to me! To get in on this deal, head on over here!
