Friday = Mega Swagbucks Day!

Today is Friday, which means that it is Mega Swag Bucks day!  This means that you could win up to 2,000 Swagbucks at a time, rather than 100... so start searching!
.
What is Swagbucks?
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Swagbucks, it's is a rewards site and search engine that allows you to earn virtual dollars (i.e. "Swag Bucks") by doing things that you do every day anyway, such as searching the web, online shopping, submitting polls, watching TV clips, etc.  These dollars can be redeemed for a variety of things, including gift cards to Amazon.com, Target, Barns & Noble, Southwest Airlines, etc.  To give you some perspective, it only takes 450 swagbucks to get a $5 Amazon.com gift card!  So, the bottom line is that you are basically earning rewards for free simply by doing your searches through swagbucks instead of other search engines like google.  If someone is going to give me something simply for searching the web like I normally do, I say, why not?!  To sign up and start earning, go here.

Swabucks Tips
Here are a few tips that should help you succeed at Swagbucks:
  • First, you obviously need to sign up if you haven't already.  Currently, you will earn 30 Swagbucks simply for joining!
  • When you're browsing the web, use Swagbucks instead of google or yahoo.  This is the hardest part because it takes a while to break the habit of going to your usual search engine.  To make it easier to remember, I would recommend changing your home page from google to swagbucks, at least until you develop the new habit of using Swagbucks.
  • It's also helpful to download the Swagbucks toolbar/widget (see the Swagbucks widget on the right hand side of this blog).  You can use this tool throughout the day to type your web searches.
  • Use Swagbucks even when you know the web address.  For example, instead of typing "gmail" into the address bar at the top of my browser, I always go to the Swagbucks site or use my Swagbucks toolbar to "search" for gmail and other sites I commonly visit.  Because you earn Swagbucks randomly by using it to search the web, you increase your chances of earning Swagbucks by using it to search for pages you normally visit.
  • Search for Swag codes and check my blog.  Swag codes are often released by Swagbucks and can be entered in your Swagbucks account to earn you more Swagbucks.  You can search for codes yourself, or you can check my blog daily for codes.
My Swagbucks
To see how great Swagbucks can actually be, check out my post about my first Swagbucks reward, a $50 Southwest gift card!  I'd say that's pretty awesome for simply using Swagbucks to search the web! Next, I think I'll save up for some Amazon gift cards to use toward Christmas presents!  To give you some incentive to try it out, I've heard of people who've been able to pay for all their holiday presents through gift cards redeemed on Swagbucks!  How awesome is that?!

GROUPON: $25 for $75 worth of wine = less than $6 per bottle shipped?!

Groupon, my favorite daily deal site, is once again offering the $75 Wine Insiders voucher for just $25!!  I've purchased this particular deal quite a few times and have used it to get wine (regularly priced between $10 & $15) for around $5 or less!  To get a really great deal, you can choose one of their cases, such as the mystery sampler case, which are already discounted, or if you'd rather choose your favorite types of wine instead of getting the sampler, another deal you can do, which I've done a few times, is:
  • Head on over here to purchase the Groupon ($25 for $75 worth of wine from Wine Insiders)
  • Once your Groupon is ready (usually a day or so after your purchase), head on over to WineInsiders.com
  • Select 12 bottles of wine for ~$9.99 each (they usually have at least one bottle in each category at this price).  Adding 12 bottles to your cart will give you FREE shipping (actually, it's 1 cent shipping, but I consider that close enough to free).
  • Your total will be $119.88
  • During checkout, enter your Groupon code in the gift certificate box and click apply, which will subtract $75, making your new total just $44.88.
  • Since you already paid $25 for the groupon, that makes your total for 12 bottles of wine just $69.88 shipped (that's just $5.82 per bottle shipped!!!).  Considering that this would have normally cost $119.88 (which is already $25 off the normal price of the case) + $20 shipping ($140 total... $11.66 per bottle total), this is a GREAT deal (~50% off wine... can't beat that!).  I can also personally vouch for the quality of their wine.  I've been very pleased thus far what what I've received from Wine Insiders.
Head on over here to purchase your Groupon!

Reminder: Last day for $40 for $90 worth of wine through Groupon!

Yay!  A Groupon for wine!  Groupon, my favorite daily deal site, occasionally offers some great online wine deals, and today is one of those days!  Through Sunday (4/3) or until it sells out, you can score a Groupon for $40 for $90 Worth of Wine at Marquee Selections!  That's an automatic 55% off, AND it appears that you can use this Groupon on sale or case deal items since it does not state anywhere in the fine print that you cannot do so!  So, you can actually score even more than 55% off!!  I took a look on the Marquee Selections site and found quite a few great sales, including a "Quarterly Best of/New Selections" 6-bottle case (you can choose from a mixed case, all red, or all white) for $89.99 (down from $120), making each bottle just $6.67 (that's ~67% off and a total savings of $80!!) and after the sale and Groupon.  Considering that these bottles are normally $20 each, I think that's an awesome deal!  Of course, you don't need to choose the Quarterly pack... you can choose anything you like, and there are lots of choices!  I just like to help point out how to get one of the very best deals :) To get in on this deal, head on over here!
