City Deals: 20% off Macaroni Grill, Chili's, On the Border, or Maggiano's

City Deals, a one-a-day deal site similar to Groupon, is currently offering a nationwide deal for 20% off a $25 gift card to On the Border, Chili's, Macaroni Grill, or Maggiono's.  The gift card (pictured above) will be mailed to you, and you can use it at any of these four restaurants nationwide!  Even though it's listed under Salt Lake City, Utah, when you click "learn more" it states "You may redeem gift card for food or beverages at any Romano's Macaroni Grill, Chili's Grill & Bar, On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina or Maggiano's Little Italy restaurant in the U.S.  Card may not be redeemed for cash, except as required by law."  To get in on this deal, go here.  You can also enter code "wallflowers" to get free shipping!

$25 Restaurant.com Gift Card for $0.75! (Today Only!)

You can use coupon code "WOW" to get 90% off at Restaurant.com TODAY ONLY.  Additionally, if you go through ShopAtHome, you can earn 25% cash back.  You could snag a $25 e-gift certificate for $0.75 or you could splurge and go for the Dinner of the Month Club (a 12-month package that comes with 12 $25 gift certificates and one FREE $50 gift certificate - that's $350 worth of gift certificates!) for only $9 after coupon code and cash back!  This club normally costs $120

To get in on this deal, register or log in at ShopAtHome.  Then scroll down and click "Restaurant.com" and then "shop now" to be directed to the Restaurant.com site where you can earn 25% back on your purchase.  At checkout, enter code WOW to receive 90% off.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Restaurant.com, it's a site that offers gift certificates for thousands of restaurants around the country that wish to attract new customers or simply offer a promotion.  You can visit Restaurant.com to view a list of participating restaurants in your area.  Once you select a restaurant you want, you can usually choose from a few gift certificate amounts (e.g. $25, $50, $100, etc.), and once you purchase your certificate, it is usually good for one year from the date of purchase.  After your purchase, you will be directed to a confirmation page and will receive an email with a link to your certificate.  If you'd like to give a Restaurant.com gift certificate as a gift, you also have the option to customize the certificate with a background picture, special message, and the recipient’s name.  You can then print or email the certificate to the recipient, and you can even choose to receive notification when the recipient receives and opens the email.

One thing to note about these certificates is that some restaurants require a minimum purchase to use the certificate, automatically add 18% gratuity to your bill, require that you use the certificate on dinner only, or require that you use it on certain days (e.g. Mon-Fri).  So, please be sure to read the description of each certificate before you make a purchase. For example, many restaurants offer $25 gift certificates that you can redeem on bills of $35 or more.  So in the case of today's deal, if you bought a $25 gift certificate for $1 and got the 25% cash back through ShopAtHome (so the certificate ends up being $0.75) and then used the certificate at a restaurant that required a $35 minimum purchase, you could get a $35 meal for $10.75!  My husband and I love Restaurant.com because it allows us to have a nice night out for a very reasonable price!

Reminder: Free Travel Size Item at Bath & Body Works through 10/6!

Bath & Body Works just released another new coupon for a FREE travel size item (up to $5 value) with ANY purchase (valid through 10/6).  I always try to find the cheapest item they carry when they release these coupons.  For example, they have PocketBack hand sanitizer holders for $.50, which means you get the holder plus a $5 travel size item for a total of $.50 + tax!  I LOVE these coupons!  The travel size items you snag with this coupon would make awesome stocking stuffers or small additions to other Xmas gifts... or just a nice little treat for yourself :)

Additionally, Bath & Body works is currently having a sale on Signature Collection items for Buy 2 Get 1 Free OR Buy 3 Get 2 Free!  If you have any old receipts with those $10 off survey coupons, you could snag some really inexpensive items!

I'm interested to see what the most popular Bath & Body Works flavors are, so leave a comment letting me know what your favorite Bath & Body Works flavor is!

9/30 Daily Groupon Round-Up

**Now is a great time to be on the lookout for good deals since the Holiday Season is fast-approaching.  Groupon is a great means to getting very nice AND very inexpensive gifts!**

I also have some exciting news (to me, at least):  Groupon has been added to Ebates!  This means that you can earn 6% cash back on your Groupon purchases!!!  To take advantage of this deal, first register for Groupon by clicking here, then register or log in to Ebates by clicking here.  On the Ebates site, type "Groupon" in the search bar, and then you will be able to click on a link that will take you to the Groupon site where you will earn 6% cash back on your purchase!

I am currently addicted to Groupon, and I've gotten so many amazing deals!  For those of you who are unfamiliar with Groupon, it's a site that negotiates with retailers to get huge discounts (usually 50-90% off) on local goods, services, activities, etc.  Once you sign up, which is free, fast, and easy, Groupon will send you one email a day with your area's deal.  Groupon also often features many non-city-specific deals, meaning that anyone can buy and use the deal even if they are not from the featured city (if your city is not yet listed, I would still recommend signing up so you can take advantage of some of these non-city-specific offers!).  Below I have listed today's non-city-specific deals.  In order to take advantage of these deals, sign up or sign in here and then click on "view more cities" near the top of the page to find the deals listed under the cities below:

My Favorite Deals Today:
  • Pittsburgh - Get 4 movie tickets from WeeklyCinema.com for $20!! AND, this Groupon is valid for IMAX and 3D movies! I don't think you can beat $5 for an IMAX or 3D movie!  This Groupon sold out VERY quickly last time, so if you're interested, I would recommend snagging it ASAP.  These would make GREAT stocking-stuffers!                                                                                    (NOTE: It's a bit confusing how they word this on the Groupon, but basically you pay $20 for the Groupon, which you then have until December 30 to redeem through WeeklyCinema.com for vouchers that you then have 90 days (from the time of the first redemption at WeeklyCinema.com) to redeem through Fandango.com or MovieTickets.com for four tickets, which you do NOT need to use all at once.  So, if you redeem on WeeklyCinema.com in December, you will have until March to use your tickets!  However, you can obviously redeem them sooner if you'd like!  I bought one of these when it was offered in a different city, and I'm now considering buying another one because I think it's such a great deal considering how expensive movie tickets are these days!!)
  • Cleveland - $25 for $75 worth of wine from Wine Insiders. The Groupon can be used toward shipping and tax. Shipping is free if you order 12 bottles.  I've personally bought two of these Groupons, and I'm very pleased.  I ordered the mystery mix box (12 bottles) and got some great wine that ended up being only about $5 a bottle!!
Other Great Deals Today:
  • Boise - $45 for a one-month membership to Uncorked Ventures wine club, which includes 2 bottles of high-end wine.

  • San Diego (Deal Nearby) - $20 for $40 worth of glass floats form bellaballs.
  • Tulsa - $5 for $15 worth of handmade soaps and bath gifts (often in the shape of fortune cookies) from Fortune Cookie Soap for $5.

How to Shop at Rite Aid

SINGE CHECK REBATES
When shopping at Rite Aid, there are a few things you should be familiar with.  First is their Single Check Rebate (SCR) Program.  Each month, Rite Aid produces a list of current rebates, which you can view online or in the in-store monthly SCR booklet (found near the weekly ad booklets).  Each week, Rite Aid will highlight many of the SCR items in the weekly ad, especially if the items are on sale or if there is a coupon available to make the rebate even better.  Many SCR items end up being free (for example, Rite Aid often offers contact solution for $7.99 with a $7.99 SCR!).  Additionally, if you have a coupon for the item, you can often turn it into a moneymaker (for example, if you had a $2 coupon for the contact solution, you would pay $5.99 out of pocket, but you would still receive the full $7.99 SCR!).  To participate in this program, you simply register online here and then log in to enter your receipt information after each trip to Rite Aid.  The system will keep track of all your rebates for the month.  At the end of the month, you can request your rebates, which Rite Aid will issue to you in a single check!  (NOTE: you may only request each month's rebate check once, so prior to requesting your check, be sure that you have entered all your receipts for the month and that you do not plan to purchase any more SCR items for the month).  The SCR program is very easy and convenient, and it is definitely one of my favorite rebate programs.  To read more about it, go here.

WELLNESS PROGRAM
A second program Rite Aid offers is called the Rite Aid Wellness Program.  The program is free, and you can sign up online or in-store.  As a member, you can enjoy:

  • Members-only sale pricing throughout the store
  • 10% off Rite Aid Brand products every day
  • 24/7 exclusive access to a pharmacist when you call 1-800-RITEAID
  • Earning points for your purchases.  Once you earn 1000 points, you can enjoy 20% off all non-prescription points purchases every day by using your Wellness Card.

+UP REWARDS PROGRAM
Another rebate program that you can take advantage of as a Wellness member is called the +UP Rewards Program.  This rebate program is similar to CVS's Extra Care Bucks (ECB) program in that you earn "+UP" reward dollars that print out on your receipt that can be used on your next purchase.  In other words, these rewards are basically like a Rite Aid gift card.  However, they do expire, so please check the expiration date to avoid missing out on these great rewards.  In order to participate in this program, you need to use your Rite Aid Wellness Card.  To read more about the +UP Program, go here

VIDEO VALUES PROGRAM
Lastly, Rite Aid offers what's called a Video Values Program that basically allows you to earn monthly coupons by watching short commercials.  In addition to earning coupons for specific products, you earn points for each commercial you watch, and once you earn 20 points, you'll be able to print a $4 off $20 or $5 off $20 total purchase coupon.  It is important to note that you CAN stack the Video Value coupons with the in-store coupons found in the weekly ad AND with manufacturer's coupons (i.e. you can use all three types of coupons on a single item).  Additionally, you can use the total purchase coupons BEFORE any other coupons, which can usually help you score some great deals!

I would recommend that you read and bring along the Rite Aid Coupon Policy in case some of the cashiers are unfamiliar with the use of coupons so that you can clearly point out the policy and clear up any confusion.

One thing I searched for when I first started couponing was example transactions at stores where I could best-use my coupons.  In order to help those of you who may not have the time or couponing experience to outline your own transactions, I outline a few transactions each week that you can do at Rite Aid to score free or very cheap items.  Please check out my weekly Rite Aid Deal Scenarios for examples of how to save at Rite Aid!

9/22 Daily Groupon Round-Up

My personal favorites for today are:
  • Brooklyn, Long Island, North Jersey, and Queens - These cities are each offering a Groupon for $10 for $20 worth of products from Soap.com, a site that sells household essentials like cosmetics, cleaning supplies, and medicines. 2-day shipping is free if you spend over $25. Soap.com also has e-coupons and a first-time customer discount (NOTE: it is unclear if the Groupon can be combined with other coupons/offers).  These Groupons are available in limited quantities, so if you're interested, you should snatch it quickly before they're sold out! This groupon appears to be VERY popular, so hurry!
  • Salt Lake City - $20 for 4 movie tickets from WeeklyCinema.com.  WeeklyCinema.com always offers 4 tickets for $20, but you usually have to have a paid subscription to the site.  With the Groupon, you do not need a subscription, so you can snag 4 tickets for $20!  According to the website, you redeem movie tickets purchased from WeeklyCinema.com through Fandango.com or MovieTickets.com for up to $14 value per ticket toward ANY movie (even IMAX and 3D movies!).  So, basically, it appears that you can get 4 tickets to ANY movie for $20 total!!!!!  WOW!
  • Lincoln - $25 for $75 worth of wine from Wine Insiders.  Shipping is free on orders of 12 bottles, but the Groupon can be used toward shipping if you don't want to get 12 bottles.
Additional non-city-specific Groupons include:
  • Akron & Canton - $15 for $30 worth of costumes and accessories from CoolCostumes.com. This would be a great place to get costumes for Halloween!
  • Boise - $20 for $40 worth of brownie gifts from Fairytale Brownies. Groupon can be applied toward shipping.
  • Dallas (look under "Deal Nearby" on the right) - $40 for three months of online marathon training from Marathon Nation ($89 value).
  • Louisville (look under "Side Deal" on the right) - SnapTotes.com is offering your choice between two custom photo bags- a clutch ($29) and a tote ($50). Shipping is included.
  • Milwaukee - $25 for $50 worth of outdoor gear from Backcountry.com.
  • New Orleans (look under "Side Deal" on the right) - $20 for $40 worth of baby and kids clothing, accessories, and gear from OrganicLayette.com.
  • Portland (look under "Another Great Deal Nearby" on the right) - $39 for $160 worth of men’s clothing from Arbitrage. Shipping is included.
  • Providence (look under "Side Deal" on the right) - $19 for a custom photo cosmetic bag from Bagettes.
  • San Antonio & Wichita (look under "Side Deal" on the right) - $15 for $30 worth of custom-designed clothes from Skreened. Standard shipping is included.
  • Sioux Falls - $5 for a 1-year subscription to Midwest Living magazine.
  • Spokane - $10 for $25 worth of products from Nutty Guys.
  • St. Louis (look under "Another Great Deal Nearby" on the right) - $25 for $50 worth of posters, prints, and framed art from Barewalls.com.

Thanks, Groupon Girl!

EBATES!!

Today I got my first Ebates check in the mail, and I was so thrilled!  I barely shopped online at all, and I earned $8.46 in FREE MONEY!  How can you argue with free cash back simply for clicking on your store's link through the Ebates site?!

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Ebates, it's a company that rewards you with free cash back (% varies per store) simply for clicking on your desired store's link through their site before you make a purchase.  They get paid to advertise for various companies and they pass on some of the earnings to you!  For example, if you'd like to make an order from Victoria's Secret online, simply go to Ebates and click on the Victoria's Secret link on the Ebates site, which will take you to the normal Victoria's Secret site but will track that you clicked on it through Ebates.  Then, you will get a certain % cash back on your order!  Simply as that!  If you are new to Ebates, you can earn $5 simply by signing up here.
